SPARC is looking to connect campuses with companies and organizations that can help in their goals to green campuses. Food for Thought - Hunger Awareness Weekend with Repair the World: Philadelphia April 11th - 13th
In collaboration with the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger, Germantown Hunger Network, and Jewish Farm School, Repair the World is planning three fantastic days of service opportunities. Opportunities include: Friday, April 11: Community Wide Food Drive! Donate your not-kosher for Passover goods to benefit the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger! Saturday, April 12: Walk/Run Against Hunger with The Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger (Benjamin Franklin Parkway) We need lots of enthusiastic volunteers to help with setting up for the race, breakdown, energetic cheerers, handing out water, helping in the kids tent, and face painting! Sunday, April 13: Lot Beautification, Urban Gardening, and Service Learning with the Jewish Farm School (West Philadelphia) Join our newest initiative, the Philly Farm Crew, and volunteer to help beautify a vacant lot in West Philadelphia at the Ahimsa House (5007 Cedar Avenue) from 1:00pm to 4:00pm for a community garden in the spring, including garden bed prep, fencing, and various other construction projects. Stay for lunch and a discussion surrounding service as a means to address hunger in your community. |
